Delegation of the day: Brazil

29.6.

We were the first delegation of the day. We woke up at 7:30am to wake up our friends at 8am. Sandra chose a Brazilian song to wake up everybody, but almost all were already awake. At 8:20 we did the flag time. It was hard for us because it’s a big responsibility to be the first and to remember all the countries. After that we went to dinning area to our first breakfast. We asked few questions about Brazil to choose the first table to take the food. Can you answer those?

1. What is the capital of Brazil?
2. Tell us the name of a Brazilian man singer?
3. Is Buenos Aires city from Brazil?

After that we sang Kiitos, brushed teethes and started the activity 1 in the gym. We had a lot of name games. It means that we made a lot of new friends!
Ten minutes before finish the activity we had to go to dinning area to put placemats for all to know their seats. More questions for choosing the table order.

1.What s the name of the president of Brazil?
2.Which colors are in the Brazilian flag?

After lunch we stayed in our own room for siesta time and change souvenirs.
Activity 2 and 3 were Cinderella. We had the opportunity to know a bit more about the kids of our group. Each group did a kind of Cinderella play (opera, water, cowboy, drama, backwards, ballet).

To choose the table for dinner we chose some leaders and JC’s from each table to dance to Brazilian songs like axe, forro and samba. It was funny!!

After that we showed the Cinderella presentations. We laughed a lot because many kids did interesting and different things. The leaders and JC’s did a really funny drama!

We shared and ate candy and chocolate during delegation time and we practiced a bit on our national dance for the national night.

Then flag time and finally lullabies and then we went to bed.

Hope you enjoyed reading our day as much as we did!!!

A lot of hugs,
Brazilian delegation

Wild Child Village

The wild child villagers are here! All the children arrived yesterday around 6pm. They got their beds and were shown around in the school by their leaders. First everyone had to make name tags and table matches. After that we had a meeting in the gym where all the delegations had a short presentation. We ended the day with flag time and lullaby.

Everyone seemed to be very excited with the first day and meeting the other children.

Today we've been playing name games and ice breakers. The feeling is getting all the time better and better.

We had still the chance to enjoy the nice and warm weather.

Get together in the gym.

Last day before the kids arrive

Time just flies away. Today we have been doing a lot of different things. We started the day with flag time, name games and continued with orientation. We made a BIG welcome sign for the children and decorated the gym with flags.

After all planning and organizing we went to celebrate the evening in an Italian restaurant. We had a nice evening together with a lot of talking and laughing.

The weather has been a bit rainy and cloudy.

Everyones' looking forward to meeting the "WILD" children tomorrow :)

Leaders: Miriam from Germany and Shiny from Thailand.

First meeting with leaders and JCs

The camp feeling is growing all the time and it's just getting better and better. During the day leaders from USA, Thailand, Brazil, Latvia and Germany, and JC's from Philippines and Finland arrived. The last ones are coming later in the evening. The last leader to arrive comes from Guatemala.

We showed them around in the school and while they arranged their stuff and settled down, the staff continued with organizing the last things.

Few of the leaders and JC's went for a walk to get to know Lahti center. Later in the night the leaders will get to know each others better.

The weather has been warmer than yesterday, +32 and it should still continue until next Wednesday.

Hope you all had a good day!

One delegation less :(

I was very sad to receive a message today that the Indian delegation has cancelled their participation to our village. We wish Nidhi and all the kids a nice summer despite this and hope that they will get another chance to experience a CISV camp! Eleven delegations still make for a very nice village, though, as I am sure that we will see soon :)
